Food. How often do we think about where it comes from? Most of our food in the US comes from corporate, industrial agriculture. The misuse of pesticides, herbicides, and chemical fertilizers creates major environmental problems. The health of the soil, ecosystems, farmers and laborers, and entire communities are at risk. Many people take this threat seriously and are supporting a sustainable, self-sufficient food supply by developing powers of self-reliance, and forming stronger networks between individuals and communities. Join us to hear about the World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms (or WWOOF), founded in England and which has created a network of volunteers who work on organic farms around the world in trade for room and board.
