Good Dirt Radio Receives the Wirth Chair Award

Featured speakers at the 9th annual Wirth Chair Awards luncheon ceremony, held on April 12, 2006 in Denver, CO, were Tim Wirth, Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper, former US Senator Gary Hart, who is currently the Wirth Chair Scholar in Residence, and former US Senator Hank Brown, who is currently the president of CU Denver.

Other winners of the Wirth Chair Award are:

  • David Schaller, Sustainable Development Director, EPA, Region 8, winner of the Certificate of Merit Award
  • Ralph Curtis water and soil conservationist, Alamosa, Colorado, winner of a Lifetime Achievement Award
  • Whole Foods Market for remarkable corporate efforts at achieving sustainability.
  • For Print Media: The Denver Post, David Olinger and Chuck Plunkett for their series on Colorado's water
  • Video Production: Harumi Kato, Yamagata Broadcasting Co. for her video on sustainable living
  • Community: Rick Gilliam of Western Resource Advocates for outstanding participation in creating Colorado's Amendment 37
  • Sustainable Initiative: The City of Denver's 'Greenprint Denver', which integrates sustainability into City programs.
  • Special Recognition: FrontRange Earth Force, for engaging youth in solving real problems in their communities.
